One of the things that I have learned in my life is that no one, and I mean no one is indispensable. Everyone has the capability of being downsized, outsourced or flat out replaced. Ms. Zampella however is as close to being indispensable as I have seen.
When a driver gets paid, Donna had something to do with it. When a part is ordered for a bus, Donna had something to do with it. When a trip request is placed, (returned, submitted for payment etc..), Donna had something to do with it. She handles calls from parents, students, administrators, insurance adjustors, salesmen, and Bus Drivers.
Ms. Zampella has a keen sense of fairness and will fight for drivers and any employee when she thinks they are right. Donna is in the driver’s corner and stands up for what is fair. Donna speaks with years of experience and from the heart.
With all she does for transportation, that is not even her main focus; her main focus is Child Nutrition. All day long, no matter where a child is in the District, getting to School or getting home, or getting lunch Donna Zampella had a hand in that child’s day.
I could not list all the things she does for transportation. Whatever the task, it is done with a can do attitude and a smile.
