Eddie Southern loves his job. He loves the payroll; he loves the kids; and he loves the school atmosphere. "The kids are great," Southern said. "I have conversations with many of them." Southern is a hardworking custodian who started at Oxford High School in February 2006. Even though he has worked with the school a relatively short time, it is his outstanding work ethic which has already earned him the Employee of the Week award. Southern starts his 8 hour day by coming in at 10 am and starting his custodial duties. He has one hour for lunch and then leaves the school at 7 pm, long after the students are gone. "He goes the extra mile. He is just great and wonderful. All the teachers love him," said Mary Stone, history teacher. "He gets along with other people and does whatever is asked of him," said Assistant Principal Ulysses Howell.
