Oxford Elementary School
“I am grateful to be chosen as OE’s Employee of the Week. This is my first year at OE, and it is wonderful working with people that have so much passion for their students’ learning. Everyone has been very welcoming and supportive. I am making lifelong friends here!”
She is our Reading Teacher, our Webmaster for the OE web page, Secretary of the Teacher Leadership Team, Team coordinator for the TST, voted by her peers as the OE Teacher of the 2007-2008 school year and a new teacher to the Oxford School District! Tamara Hillmer serves her colleagues, her students and her parents with enthusiasm. She is very organized, brings good ideas to the table and exhibits a wonderful spirit of cooperation.
Mrs. Hillmer understands the importance of building reading success for all students. The reading class began with 43 students in the fall; 19 of the 43 students have already met or surpassed their reading goals! In addition to teaching students to read, Tamara is often consulted by the staff for suggestions regarding up-to-date reading techniques and pedagogy.
In her role as team coordinator for the TST, Mrs. Hillmer schedules meetings and consults and assists referring teachers to ensure information is available prior to the meeting.
It is an honor to recognize Mrs. Tamara Hillmer as OE’s Employee of the Week.
