Chris Baughman

Math Teacher
Oxford High School

“Since my peers vote for this, it is even more special. I am very humbled and honored.”

Math teacher Chris Baughman has a long history with Oxford High School. He began doing observation and working with the football team 11 years ago as a junior at Ole Miss then coached the baseball team the next year. This is his ninth year as a math teacher at OHS, currently teaching Algebra I and AB/BC Calculus. He is also now the head baseball coach.

Baughman says his favorite part of teaching is developing a relationship with the students, watching them smile and finding ways to make them laugh.

“I know some of them don’t share a love of math,” Baughman said, grinning. “So, I have to find ways to keep them excited about learning.”

Chris Baughman takes his responsibilities in the classroom as seriously as he does on the baseball diamond. He comes to school bright and early to assist struggling students and oftentimes his classroom is packed with those that need help. Nobody is ever turned away. Chris Baughman is a highly valued member of the math team and SATP team at OHS. He certainly represents OHS well as the Employee of the Week.
