Todd Liddell
Teacher
Oxford High School
Todd Liddell’s health classes at Oxford High School are not the health classes of days past. When he began teaching health Liddell said he knew he wanted to make it a class the students really wanted to attend. And that’s just what he has accomplished.
Liddell’s Comprehensive Health classes cover a range of health related topics dealing with mental, emotional and physical health, all of which Liddell says go together to “make a person.” His students learn about topics including drugs, relationships, STDs, first aid, and even the environment. He also teaches a section on alcohol because it is a topic that impacts so many students in the school.
Liddell began his teaching career at OHS four years ago. The first year he taught U.S. History and coached. This year Liddell finished his National Boards, and bragged on his classes for their help and cooperation during the process.
In addition to his Comprehensive Health class, Liddell says he has also enjoyed getting to know his SMART team students.
“They’re my babies!” Liddell said about the 11th graders he’s mentored since their 9th grade year. Liddell has taken a special interest in his SMART team, making sure they know that he is a person at the school to whom they can turn if they need anything.
“I want to be the best teacher I can be. It’s a calling.” — Todd Liddell
