OHS CTE Construction Classes Partner with Lafayette County Soil and Water Conservation District for Nature Conservation
Oxford, Mississippi (October 31, 2024) — Oxford High School’s Career Technical Education (CTE) program is proud to provide real-world experience for its students. Recently, two first-year CTE construction core classes partnered with the Lafayette County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to construct wood duck boxes and bluebird houses.
This collaboration fostered hands-on experience and environmental stewardship among the students. A special thank you to the Lafayette County SWCD for providing construction materials for this project. These wood duck boxes and bluebird houses will be donated to various residents of Lafayette County.
“Through building these birds and duck houses, I hope the students learned the value of hands-on conservation work and how their efforts directly impact the local environment,” said Mr. Justin Robinson, CTE Instructor of Construction and Electrical. “By contributing to the Lafayette County Soil and Water Conservation, they’re not only helping to protect wildlife habitats but also becoming stewards of the community’s natural resources.”
