Fun for the whole community.Oxford, Mississippi (April 5, 2024) — The second annual Festival of Nations is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Oxford High School. The event is hosted by the OSD English as a Second Language department. The festival is free and open to the public.

Building on the success of last year’s event, which showcased twenty nations, this year’s festival will be even more expansive, with an additional ten nations represented. Attendees can look forward to experiencing the sights, sounds, and flavors of Cameroon, Chile, France, Jordan, Nigeria, Palestine, Russia, Somalia, South Africa, and Yemen.

The festival is an opportunity to celebrate many of the cultures found in our students and the Oxford community. There will be a multitude of stations where one can sample authentic foods, play games, listen to music, and so much more.

“The Festival of Nations is a night of celebration for the whole community,” said Nancy McCurdy, English Learner Program Coordinator. “We are excited to celebrate all of the different cultures of Oxford and our school district that showcase the international diversity of our town!”

There are 35 languages spoken by students in the Oxford School District.

“We are excited to invite everyone to our second Festival of Nations on April 23,” said Oxford High School Principal, Dr. Dana Bullard. “We hope to see you in the Charger Yard!”
