Denevan Named 2022 Parent of the Year
Oxford, Mississippi (January 25, 2022) — The Oxford School District announced Parents of the Year from each campus and named Tara Denevan as the 2022 District Parent of the Year. In 2018, Denevan recognized a need to help families at Christmas time and she launched Charger Christmas Kids. In coordination with school counselors, Charger Christmas Kids most recently provided gifts to over 300 families in the district. “Tara is absolutely amazing in everything she does. Her heart is always focused on what is best for the students and will do anything to meet their needs. Her desire to provide for our kids is amazing,” said Audra Rester, Oxford Middle School Principal. Denevan has two children in the Oxford School District, Brody (8th grade) and Lyla (4th grade).
Bramlett Elementary: Aley Reece
“Mrs. Reece is actively involved in her child's education and helps support her child's class as well as multiple projects that benefit all students at Bramlett. She works hard to serve the children at Bramlett and make sure they have what they need to be successful in a variety of ways. She serves as the secretary on the BES PTO Board this year and is an active member in the Oxford community.” Mrs. Reece has two children in the Oxford School District- Charles (2nd grade) and Elizabeth (Kindergarten).
Central Elementary: Mary Chris Moore
“Mrs. Moore is our very hardworking Central Elementary PTO president. She fulfills this role willingly trying her best to meet the needs of all students and staff members. She is a tremendous asset to our school community.” Mrs. Moore is a mother of three children, Darby (2nd grade), Mary Mason (Kindergarten), and Kellum (4 years old).
Della Davidson Elementary: Jill Stevens
“Jill is always available to lend a hand. From providing teachers with monthly treats and supporting a positive culture at DDES, leading positive relationships with students at Walking Wednesdays, Jill's servant heart epitomizes that of Parent of the Year.” Jill has two children in the Oxford School District- Jack (2nd grade) and Miley (4th grade).
Oxford Intermediate: Ashley Wilkinson
“Mrs. Wilkinson is always spearheading and assisting us at OIS with teacher incentives as well as reading volunteers. She supports our staff by arranging for teachers to have duty free lunch and she is always thinking of others. We appreciate her willingness to always support us at OIS!” Mrs. Wilkinson has two children in the Oxford School District- Anne Margaret (6th grade) and William (10th grade)
Oxford Middle School: Tara Denevan
“Mrs. Denevan single handedly organizes and helps provide Christmas for over 300 children in the district. I do not think people see what an undertaking this is! She magically provides anything the district needs, PTO needs, nursing needs, student and athletic needs...she's got you covered.” Mrs. Denevan has two children in the Oxford School District- Brody (8th grade) and Lyla (4th grade).
Oxford High School: Adrian Shipman
“Mrs. Shipman has worked hard to ensure that the PTO and all parents focus on the students and their success while supporting the teachers and their success.” She has two children in the Oxford School District- Bella (12th grade) and Wells (10th grade).
