Late Start Days Removed From 2020-2021 Academic Calendar
Oxford, Mississippi (June 1, 2020) — Originally scheduled as part of the District of Innovation Plan, the Oxford School District has cancelled the late arrival days planned for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the strain that Covid-19 has placed on the return to school in August, district administrators have removed the thirteen late arrival days used for teacher professional development.
The late arrival period delayed the start of the school day by approximately two hours. The 2019-2020 school year was the first academic calendar that utilized this professional development tool and will be considered in future planning. The 2020-2021 academic calendar will have seven remaining full-day professional development opportunities on the calendar for OSD educators.
