OSD gifted teacher and Director of Student Development recognized at the Mississippi Association of Gifted Children Conference

Oxford, Mississippi (December 4, 2024) — The Oxford School District (OSD) is proud to announce that Ms. Marilyn Barnes, OSD Director of Student Development, and Mrs. Laurie Beth Ellis, Della Davidson Elementary School Gifted Teacher, received awards from the Mississippi Association of Gifted Children at their recent annual conference.
Ms. Barnes was awarded the Pam Wooten Memorial Award for Outstanding District Contact in Gifted Education. This esteemed award recognizes a district leader who has a passion for gifted education, enthusiasm for gifted learners, and strong collaboration with the state and district.
Mrs. Ellis received the Frances A. Karnes Award for Excellence in Gifted Education. This award recognizes individuals who make significant contributions to enhancing the gifted education program for students.
