Oxford, Mississippi (February 21, 2024) — Oxford High School proudly announces that three of its exceptional students, Gates Allen, Charlie Fruge, and Navaneeth Srinath, have been nominated for the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program stands as one of the nation's highest honors for graduating high school seniors. It is designed to recognize and celebrate exceptional talent and achievement across various areas, including academics, the arts, and career and technical education fields.

Each year, up to 161 students are bestowed with the title of U.S. Presidential Scholars, symbolizing their dedication to excellence in education and their potential for future greatness. These scholars are selected based on three paths of accomplishment: broad academic achievement, academic and artistic scholarship in areas such as visual arts, performing arts, or creative writing, and notable achievements in career and technical education fields.

With over 5,000 candidates identified annually for their outstanding academic accomplishments, based on exceptional scores on standardized tests such as the SAT or the ACT, their nomination is a testament to their dedication and hard work. They have all consistently upheld the highest standards of academic excellence, making them prime candidates for this prestigious honor.
