OSD bids farewell to Communications Director
Oxford, Mississippi (December 15, 2023) — Oxford School District Communications Director, Heather Lenard, is moving on from the district after six years of serving in administration. Since 2018, Lenard has served the district with internal and external communication with parents, staff, media, and the Oxford community. Most notably, Lenard led district communications during the Covid-19 pandemic, the creation of Portrait of a Graduate, and the 2023 bond referendum.
“Communication is critical to all organizations and OSD has been blessed to have the very best in Heather Lenard. Her impact on branding the Oxford School District to our stakeholders has been immeasurable. She is amazing at what she does and will be greatly missed. We certainly wish her the best," said Superintendent Bradley Roberson.
Lenard has represented Oxford statewide as the President of the Mississippi School Public Relations Association (MSPRA). In 2019, MSPRA named Lenard as their "Communicator of the Year" and a Gold Medallion winner- their top program award that recognizes communication best practices. She has been enlisted as a speaker for the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA), North Mississippi Education Consortium (NMEC), and Mississippi Association of School Superintendents (MASS). Lenard has served as a board member for the United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County. Lenard possesses a Master's Degree in Corporate Communication and has an extensive public relations background in non-profits, K-12 education, and government. Lenard also provides public relations services through her consulting business, Three20 Agency.
"This school district is filled with incredible employees, many of whom have become lifelong friends. I am fortunate to remain a parent in Charger Nation and am highly vested in the success of this district," said Lenard.
Lenard will be taking a new role with Pinelake Church and looks forward to spending more time with her family. After Lenard's departure, Jill Knox, former teacher and curriculum coach, will take the helm of district communications alongside communications specialist Lauren Jones and the district's webmaster, Lauren Hitchcock.
