Oxford, Mississippi (December 9, 2019) — When children start school without important skills, it becomes harder and harder for them to achieve their potential without considerable intervention. These challenges can often lead children to face more severe issues, such as being retained in a grade, experiencing discipline troubles, and failing to finish high school. Mississippi must help families get their children ready to succeed in school.
For the first time in Oxford and Lafayette County, the L.O.U. Early Childhood Learning Collaborative can accept the donations that are mutually beneficial to our community and you, the donor. If an individual or a business will owe state taxes for 2019, that tax payment can be sent directly to benefit local Pre-K programs such as Bramlett Pre-K, Lafayette County Pre-K, Willie Price Lab School, and Mary Cathey Head Start.
To read more on making your donation, visit loureads.org/donate or contact Tamara Hillmer, Director of Early Childhood and Reading Development at (662) 380-5448. Donations from the 2019 tax year must be reported to the L.O.U. Collaborative no later than December 31, 2019.
