Oxford School District Approves 2020-2021 Academic Calendar

Oxford, Mississippi (November 22, 2019) — The Oxford School District Board of Trustees approved the proposed 2020-2021 academic calendar at the November 18 board meeting. The Board's authority is to approve the start date and the end date of the school year. The other days are based on operational needs and are subject to further adjustment.

In the spring, the district will evaluate and survey staff and parents on the late-start days that are used for professional development. If the district decides to continue with this schedule, those late-start dates are already set for the 2020-2021 academic calendar.

Notable differences:

Start date is pushed to Monday, August 10, 2019; allows more time for final preparation for occupying two new facilities at the start of school.

Fall Break is reduced to one day instead of two to make up for later start; scheduled on Columbus Day in conjunction with the University of Mississippi.

Two designated make up days are scheduled for April 5, 2021 and May 25, 2021.
