Late Arrival Days in 2019-2020

Oxford, Mississippi (April 12, 2019) — A few weeks ago, the Oxford School District was named a “District of Innovation” by the Mississippi State Board of Education. This new status provides flexibility in our calendar for additional teacher professional development opportunities during the school day, rather than the end of a long, tiring day. The district has added fourteen late arrival days (on Mondays) in the 2019-2020 academic calendar.

How does this affect a parent/guardian?

  • The buses will run on their regular schedule on these days.
  • Parents/Guardians may bring their student to school at the later time via their own mode of transportation.
  • Cafeterias will operate on their regular schedule, providing breakfast on the normal schedule.
  • Students who arrive early on campus will remain under supervision until school starts.

The delayed start is roughly 1 hour and 50 minutes. The start times for these 14 late start days are as follows:

  • Bramlett Elementary, Oxford Elementary, and Della Davidson Elementary:
    begin at 9:40 a.m.
  • Oxford Intermediate, Oxford Middle, and Oxford High:
    begin at 10:30 a.m.
