Oxford, Mississippi (December 14, 2018) — The Mississippi Literacy Association hosted its annual conference in November for teachers, directors, administrators, superintendents, and literacy representatives throughout the Southeast at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. This year, Oxford School District (OSD) was selected to send both academic and technology coaches from its Curriculum & Instruction Department to present on various topics that reflect the successes of reading achievement demonstrated in the district.

Ms. Sydney McGaha, Assistant Principal at Oxford Middle School, serves the Mississippi Literacy Association as the Board Committee Chairman for presentation selection. McGaha stated that “she wanted to branch out this year and try some new types of sessions.” OSD Coaches brought new ideas through technology, math number talks, and ELA strategies to the conference. Representing Oxford School District was Jill Knox,

Wendy Raby, Marilyn Barnes, Chasity Arbuckle, LaJeremy Hughes and Brian Buckhalter.
