District Recognizes Growth on 2017-2018 MAAP Assessment

Oxford, Mississippi (November 29, 2018) — At the November Regular-Called Board of Trustees meeting, forty-four students were recognized for their performance on the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) tests given in the spring of 2018. Certificates were presented to those students whose scores grew two proficiency levels or more in Math and English Language Arts from their previous year’s test scores.

OSD Assistant Superintendent, Bradley Roberson, exclaimed “this is an incredible accomplishment for these young people. Growing two proficiency levels means they answered an additional 25-30 questions correctly compared to a year ago. This requires a lot of hard work and grit.”

MAAP measures student achievement in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and US History. Students are assessed in grades 3 through 8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, grades 5 and 8 Science, Algebra I, Biology I, English II, and US History.
