Oxford, Mississippi (October 24, 2018) — At the Oxford School District Board of Trustees October meeting, a donation to Good Food for Oxford Schools (GFOS) was accepted in the amount of $1,250 from Snackbar Restaurant, Chef Vishwesh Bhatt, General Manager Jeffrey Grimes and Owner John Currence. The donation is from the proceeds of the Mississippi Monday program, a series of four dinners prepared by local chefs to show their support in their local community.

The donation given to Good Food for Oxford Schools is in support of the mission to create district-wide healthy changes through our cafeterias and classrooms, connecting kids to where food comes from and educating students and their families about good food as part of a healthy lifestyle.

With check in hand, Snackbar General Manager Jeffrey Grimes stated at the board meeting, “we would like to say thank you to the Oxford Community for supporting these dinners, the local chefs who traveled to take part and the providers of local products for these dinners. We look forward to doing this again in the future.” Eleanor Green, GFOS Director shared that they plan to use the funds “for lessons in the classroom and scholarships for the high school cooking classes.”
