Oxford High School Students Debate at National Competition
Oxford, Mississippi (May 30, 2018) — Four students from Oxford High School attended the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL) Tournament in Washington DC. NCFL sponsors the annual Grand National Tournament on Memorial Day weekend, offering six forensics events and four debate events. In Public Forum Debate, the OHS team of Luke Kelly & Josh Pearson, placed 32nd out of 273 teams. The teams were accompanied by a volunteer coach, Jarrius Adams-a senior at the University of Mississippi. Seniors, Luke Kelly and Josh Pearson chose to miss their high school graduation in order to attend the conference. OHS Speech and Debate is taught and coached led by Dr. Barbara Lowe.
