Lady Chargers Make the USA Today Super 25 Regional Girls’ Winter Soccer Rankings, Earn Top 10 Spot
Oxford, Mississippi (April 21, 2017)—The Lady Chargers’ Soccer Team, undefeated with back-to-back championships, brought a first-class act to the field this past season, and USA Today experts took notice. The Lady Chargers finished their season ranked 10th in the nation by USA Today and ranked number one in Region 2 (Region 2 includes Mississippi and Louisiana) in the same standings.
The top 10 ranking is for seven states that play winter girls’ soccer (in alphabetical order): Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
“I am very excited about this recognition for my program, and I hope this springboards our off season as we look towards next season,” said Coach Hunter Crane, head coach of varsity girls’ soccer. “What a great day to be a Charger!”
Each week USA Today High School Sports and National Soccer Coaches Association of America released Super 25 Regional Girls Winter Soccer Rankings. Rankings are based on results from the 2016-17 season, quality of players and strength of schedule. Regions are determined by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
