Oxford, Mississippi (April 20, 2017)—The National Federation of State High School Associations named Oxford Charger Boys’ Track Head Coach Chris Bush as the 2016 Coach of the Year for Mississippi in the sport of Boys’ Track & Field (Outdoor). Bush is also the assistant high school coach for Oxford Charger Boys’ Cross Country, Oxford Lady Charger Lady Girls’ Cross Country and assistant middle school coach for boys’ and girls’ cross country.
It should be no surprise that Coach Bush is the first in his class; however, he says he is humbled to receive such recognition because he is standing on the shoulders of others.
“This award is an award for the team and the program,” says Coach Bush. “The success we have had over the past four years is directly related to the fact that I believed in my student-athletes, and they chose to believe in me. We hope to continue to bring prestige and honor to our state and to our school district.”
