Oxford Chargers Participate in 2016 National Signing Day at Oxford High School
Oxford, Mississippi (February 4, 2016) — Eight Oxford Chargers made it official in front of family, coaches and their peers during 2016 National Signing Day: they put their commitment to play on the college level in writing.
Oxford High School student athletes who signed a Letter of Intent on February 3, 2016, during the school’s National Signing Day media event are:
Jack Abraham, Quarterback — Louisiana Tech University
Dekaylin Metcalf, Wide Receiver — University of Mississippi
Zach Cousar, Tight End — Louisiana Tech University
Tag Gatlin, Offensive Lineman — Mississippi College
Korbin Harmon, Defensive End — University of Mississippi
Jacquez Neilson, Defensive Lineman — Itawamba Community College
Kenzie Phillips, Running Back — Northeast Mississippi Community College
Zoe Scruggs, Center Midfielder, Soccer — Delta State University
“I was so excited to see our student athletes get to share this occasion with their families and teammates,” said Chris Cutcliffe, head football coach for the Oxford Chargers. “They have worked extremely hard to get to this point, and I know they will be successful in the future.”
Zoe Scruggs, five-year letterman for the Lady Chargers’ Soccer team, also signed her Letter of Intent to play soccer at Delta State University.
National Signing Day is the first day a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for college football or soccer with a school that is a member of the United States National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
