MSA is an eleventh and twelfth grade visual and performing arts residential, public high school located in Brookhaven, MS on the Historic Whitworth College campus.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I felt like I am at the right stage in my life to go for it. I am very independent and I feel like going to a boarding school is a great chance for real-world application and will prepare me for college,” said Cassisa.

The process for admission to MSA includes an online application, virtual audition, and interview. In February, Cassisa was invited to submit audition videos in three categories: a one-minute solo, ballet barre, and a contemporary piece.

Cassisa is a ballet dancer with the Oxford Academy of Dance Arts and has participated in color guard since 7th grade. Cassisa loves studying French at Oxford High and will be able to continue in French through a virtual option. After graduation, Cassisa plans to attend college to study Classics and hopes to eventually dance professionally. Cassisa is an Oxford native and the daughter of Jane and Paul Cassisa.

About MSA

At MSA, students not only meet and exceed the traditional Mississippi high school curriculum, they receive special instruction in visual arts, vocal music, dance, literary arts, filmmaking/media arts, and theatre. Students interested in MSA apply their sophomore year. In addition to MSA students consistently winning awards for their work on the state, regional and national levels, the school holds the #2 highest ACT average in the state.

MSA is a great school for those students who want to explore the arts in an extraordinary way. The school also fills a special need for students with demonstrated talent that need a collegiate level learning experience in the arts.

MSA recruits students currently in the 10th grade who might be interested in visual arts, dance, theatre, vocal music, literary arts, or filmmaking. MSA will be holding Round 2 Auditions for the 21-22 school year in all areas. Tenth graders apply online by April 16th. All auditions will be virtual. Applications are available at www.msabrookhaven.org.
