Transportation

Mr. Oran Jewell has been driving for the Oxford School District for the past 4 years and also works for the School of Applied Technology. Mr. Oran does an exceptional job with his route. He is very professional and has very little discipline problems when driving his route bus. When it comes to transporting the students to and from school, he is always there on time with a smiling face to greet the students. Mr. Jewell is a great asset to the Oxford School District transportation team and we appreciate the great job he is doing for the district.

Below you will find a recent account of what district teacher Dr. Sarah Lacy witnessed of Mr. Oran's good character as she was leaving school one day:

I have to share this because as a parent and member of the OSD I was most impressed with the actions of the bus driver of Bus#14 for the Oxford School District.

I was on my way back to school around 4:00 yesterday afternoon when I saw a bus stop on Manor Drive to let a child off. I stopped and watched as a little girl got off the bus and started up the drive way. I expected the bus driver to then go on but he did not. He was watching the little girl to be sure she got inside safely. I could tell that he was talking to her as she was walking up the hill. Then he moved the bus closer to the curb and was still talking to her. It did not look like anyone was home because all doors to the house were closed. I could tell that he was concerned too because he had her get back on the bus, and he took her back to Bramlett. Immediately after he pulled away, her mother came to the door, and I explained what I thought had happened. I told her I would follow the bus and let the driver know that her mother was at home. I caught up with him at Bramlett after he had let the girl out and told him about her mother being home. He went back into Bramlett to get the girl and take her home.

I do not know the bus driver's name but he needs to be commended because he did a very caring thing. I was impressed by the fact that he was watching to be sure she got in her house safely. If you know this driver, please tell him thank you because he one of the reason that this is such a great school district.

After a day like yesterday at OHS, it is great to see a member of this district being a concerned and caring individual!!!

Thanks to all the bus drivers and transportation staff for what they do but today--especially Bus Driver of Bus #14. You made my day yesterday.
