Oxford, Mississippi — Six Oxford School District students from Central Elementary School, Oxford Intermediate School, and Oxford Middle School competed in the Lafayette County Spelling Bee on January 15th, representing their schools with outstanding knowledge and perseverance.
Oxford School District students qualified for the county competition by advancing through their respective school-level spelling bees. Three additional Oxford School District students placed among the top finishers at their school spelling bees and served as alternates for the county competition.
The Lafayette County Spelling Bee was held at the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library, where participants demonstrated strong vocabulary skills and confidence as they competed alongside students from Lafayette County School District and Magnolia Montessori School.
The Lafayette County Spelling Bee isn’t just about words; it’s about confidence, preparation, and the determination to grow,
said Marilyn Barnes, Oxford School District Director of Student Development. I am continually inspired by our students and the dedication they bring to this community event, and I wish them all the best as they continue to learn, achieve, and shine in whatever comes next.
