Oxford School District Recognizes Coach Nash for Decades of Dedication
Louis Nash
Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford School District is proud to honor the retirement of Oxford High School tennis coach Louis Nash, whose remarkable career at Oxford has shaped several generations of Charger tennis athletes and built one of Mississippi’s most respected high school tennis programs.
Coach Nash, who began coaching tennis in 1984, steps off the court this spring after more than four decades as a tennis coach, including 25 years leading the Oxford High School tennis team.
Throughout his career, Coach Nash led his teams to more than 600 victories, including seventeen state championships during his time at Oxford High School. In 2024, Coach Nash was named the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year; additionally, he is a member of the Mississippi Tennis Hall of Fame and has received numerous additional awards and recognitions for his excellence in coaching.
“Coach Nash's impact on the OHS Tennis Program is immeasurable. He has spent countless hours helping our student athletes better themselves on and off the court. However, his legacy reaches well beyond our community's boundaries. He has influenced high school tennis across the entire state and Southeast region, and we are forever indebted for everything he has done,” said Oxford School District Co-Activities Director Chris Baughman.
The Oxford School District extends deep gratitude, appreciation, and best wishes to Coach Nash in his retirement. We are incredibly grateful to the coaches and educators who make a lasting impact on our students’ lives — and Coach Nash is one whose legacy will live in every Oxford Charger who had the privilege to learn under his guidance.
