Oxford, Mississippi — The Oxford School District is pleased to announce Mike Fortenberry as the new Director of Project Management and Operational Efficiency. Fortenberry brings more than two decades of experience in district technology operations to his new role, having served the Oxford School District for 21 years as the Director of Information Technology.

In this role, Fortenberry will lead projects and initiatives that strengthen capital project delivery, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making across facilities, information technology, child nutrition, and transportation. He will collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer and other district partners to support ongoing growth and ensure that operations and improvement projects are completed effectively and aligned with district goals.

I am extremely pleased to have Mike Fortenberry assume the role of Director of Project Management and Operational Efficiency, said Dr. Steve Hurdle, Oxford School District Chief Operations Officer. Mike has demonstrated his loyalty to our district and has the skill set to help our district operations run at peak efficiency. He will play a role that is desperately needed with our district's growth and ongoing capital improvements.

The district’s Information Technology Department is now led by Aaron Getz, who recently stepped into the role of Director of Information Technology.

Fortenberry joined Oxford School District in September 2004 as the Director of Information Systems. His leadership and technical expertise have strengthened the district’s technology systems and enhanced technology-driven operations, ensuring reliable, secure, and effective support for students and staff across our schools.

He holds a degree in computer science from the University of Mississippi and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Mississippi Army National Guard. His wife, Karen, serves as an assistant principal at Oxford High School, and his son, Jared, also works for the Oxford School District.

The Oxford School District is confident that Mr. Fortenberry’s leadership will support the district’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence.
