OHS Culinary Arts Program Receives Grant from Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association

Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford High School is delighted to share that its Culinary Arts program has been awarded a generous grant from the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association. This funding will give students the opportunity to put their skills to practice by preparing a variety of freshly made meals to serve and sell to teachers at Oxford High School.
Through this initiative, Culinary Arts students will gain real world experience while reinforcing the core curriculum of their program. They will apply Serv-Safe food safety practices and sanitation guidelines while also strengthening their cooking and preparation techniques and skills. Additionally, this will help students build essential skills in menu planning, nutritional balance, time and production management.
“We really appreciate the support of the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association. Awards like these are what allow us to continue to be innovative and try new ideas in the classroom. Strong partnerships are the key to strong CTE programs, and we're thankful for all of our business and industry partners,” said Dr. Duncan Gray, Director of Community & Workforce Development.
Through this grant, all students in the Culinary Arts program will have the opportunity to participate — from advanced learners stepping into leadership roles to introductory students building confidence in the kitchen. Beyond the kitchen, the project equips students with practical skills — leadership, teamwork, and nutritional awareness — that will serve them well into the future.
