Elementary Student Narrative – Changes for Grades 2-5

Oxford, Mississippi — Our goal in class placement is to create learning environments that best support each child’s academic growth and overall success. With that in mind, we will continue to use parent narratives as an important part of the process. These narratives give families an opportunity to share information about their child’s learning style, strengths, and any specific needs that would help us support them effectively in the classroom.
Beginning this year, narratives for students in grades 2 through 5 will focus solely on instructional considerations. This means that while we welcome and value your insight into how your child learns best, we will no longer include requests for specific friends in class placement at these grade levels.
This adjustment allows our school teams to focus more intentionally on building balanced classrooms that meet the academic and instructional needs of all students. We understand that friendships are important, and we remain committed to fostering positive relationships within each classroom and across the school community.
We appreciate your partnership and the thoughtful input you provide through the narrative process. Your perspective plays an important role in helping us make the best possible decisions for all students.
The deadline to submit narratives is May 20, 2026.
