Alzheimer's Club

Description:  The Students for Alzheimer's Club is a club that raises money in support of the local nonprofit Memory Makers through our annual tennis tournament in the summer. When not working on the tournament, club members must volunteer at least two times a semester and help raise money or manage the tennis tournament.

 

Anchor Club

Art Club

Description:  Students create artwork for various art shows hosted by OHS & Ole Miss, participate in volunteer work with art camps and other activities in town, make artwork for charities and nursing homes

 

BETA Club

Dues/Fees:  Students must pay dues to the national beta organization to be recognized as a member.

Requirements for Entry:  Invitations are sent in the fall semester to students in grades 9-12 who have a 3.6 GPA or higher. Final grades from the previous year determine eligibility.

Description:  This club promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.

 

Beyond Our Walls

Description:  For OHS students to reach outside the walls of OHS and support others that are less fortunate than us.

 

Chess Club

Frequency of Meetings:  Usually at least once per week on Mondays, but expect schedule changes once bowling season begins. Schedule changes will be posted on Schoology.

Description:  Students gathering together to play, study, and improve at chess while, hopefully, working towards our goal of increasing our participation in competitive chess tournaments around Mississippi and the mid-south.

 

DECA

Envirothon

Frequency of Meetings:  Team is formed in October. Trainings for prospective members take place in September/October. One full-day training and 4 to 6 after-school trainings will be in January, February, and March. Regional and state competitions will be in March/April.

Description:  Students compete against other schools on the topics of wildlife, forestry, soils, and aquatics. We have an A team and a B team, with 6 members each.

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Description:  FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. This club is open to all students, not just athletes.

 

French Club

Description:  To further encourage inter-cultural growth and knowledge through the sharing of Francophone language and culture

 

Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Requirements for Entry:  Students must currently be enrolled in a horticulture class or were enrolled in a horticulture class the previous school year.

Description:  Student organization for those enrolled in agricultural education classes (horticulture). Students are expected to participate in fundraising, commnunity service projests, and career/leadership development events (competitions).

 

Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

Description:  Gender Sexuality Alliance (under parent organization GLSEN): a student-led organization that aims to create a safe, welcoming, and accepting school environment for all youth, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. The club is open to any student who feels that harassment or discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, their friends, or their families is wrong. The club supports tolerance and understanding of all people and promotes equality among all students

 

Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA)

National Honor Society (NHS)

Dues/Fees:  $20 dues must be submitted before the Induction Ceremony in April/May of junior year.

Requirements for Entry:  Students with a GPA of 3.85 or higher in the fall semester of their junior year. Invitations are sent in the spring semester to eligible students.

Description:  Invitation only. NHS is an academic and service organization for rising seniors with a minimum 3.85 GPA. The induction Ceremony takes place in April/May of junior year. Attendance to the ceremony is mandatory. Members are required to complete 20 hours of service work.

 

RISE

Description:  RISE stands for “reach, inspire, support, and empower”. RISE Oxford High is a peer to peer wellness education initiative committed to the overall well-being of the OSD community. RISE creates a community of care by supporting and empowering the students to learn and engage their peers about a variety of wellness topics that are specific to the needs of high school students.

 

Robotics Club

Description:  At S4S, we turn unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.

 

Superior Superstar Supporters (SSS)

Description:  The TSA enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), whereby members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs.

 

VEX Robotics
