Overview

College & Career Readiness

The Oxford School District’s Department of College and Career Readiness (CCR) aims to provide focused pathways for all OSD students to explore career interests, and to help students discover all of their opportunities after high school. During the district’s development of its Portrait of a Graduate in 2018, members of the community expressed a desire for “tracks for specific job skills and learning”. One goal of the CCR department is to combine academic and skill-based coursework to make school more relevant. The CCR department oversees and supports the Pathway Courses from 6-12 grade and works to align the academic and career guidance students receive as they move through the Oxford School District.

Part of the process of deciding paths to pursue after high school includes understanding how various career-based assessments can assist in planning for the future. Assessments such as the ACT, PSAT/SAT, ACT Workkeys, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), and Advanced Placement play a critical role in helping students identify career interests and opportunities as well as earning college credit, industry recognized certifications, and scholarship money.
