Head Soccer Coach: Hunter Crane
Coach Crane, the Head Coach of both the boys' and girls' soccer teams at Oxford High School, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the program. Since assuming the role of Oxford High School Girls and Boys Soccer Coach, Coach Crane has been instrumental in developing and leading the school's soccer teams to new heights.
Coach Crane's soccer journey began as a player for the Montgomery Streaks Premier in Alabama from a young age throughout his high school playing days. He then played college soccer at Faulkner University before transferring to the University of Mississippi to complete his degree. This extensive playing experience laid a solid foundation for his coaching career, providing him with deep insights into the game.
His coaching career began with the University of Mississippi Women’s Soccer Team, where he served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach. This initial role laid the foundation for a prolific coaching career that saw him quickly progress to leading youth teams, including serving as the U10 Club Soccer Head Coach for Oxford Soccer Club and the U12 and U14 Soccer Head Coach for the Mississippi Flood Football Club.
Under Coach Crane's guidance, the Oxford High School girls' soccer team has achieved an impressive overall record of 145-39-7, winning two state championships and securing eight division titles. The team gained national recognition, consistently ranking among the top high school teams in the nation according to MaxPreps, NSCAA, and USA Today.. His exceptional coaching abilities earned him numerous awards, including Soccer Coach of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Coaches and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coach of the Year, as well as multiple recognitions by USA Today and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The team was named Region 2 #1 High School Girls’ Soccer Team and placed in the top 20 national rankings multiple times.
In addition to his success with the girls' program, Coach Crane has also significantly impacted the boys' soccer team, achieving an overall record of 54-26. Under his leadership, the boys' team has won two division titles and made a notable appearance in the North Half Championship game this past year.
Coach Crane holds several prestigious certifications, including a National Diploma from United Soccer Coaches, Accredited Interscholastic Coach certification, and a Class D License from the United States Soccer Federation. His dedication to excellence is further evidenced by the academic achievements of his teams, earning the Team Academic Award from United Soccer Coaches and the Scholar Athlete Team Award from the Mississippi High School Athletic Association for 7 consecutive years.
Coach Crane's coaching philosophy centers on fostering a competitive yet supportive environment where student-athletes can excel both on and off the field. He emphasizes the importance of teamwork, discipline, and academic achievement, ensuring that his players develop into well-rounded individuals. Assistant Girls’ Soccer Coach: Anna Dennis
Anna Dennis, a former standout player and now an esteemed assistant coach at Oxford High School, brings a rich history of high-level soccer experience and leadership to our soccer program. Anna's soccer journey began in fifth grade with her involvement in elite club soccer, playing for teams such as TFC, OFC, Lobos, and Flood. Her talent and dedication were evident early on, as she was pulled up to play every minute of the varsity schedule in eighth grade.
Anna's high school career was marked by remarkable achievements, including leading her team to state championships as a captain in both 2016 and 2017. Her leadership and skill on the field set a high standard for her teammates and solidified her legacy as a formidable player.
Continuing her soccer journey at Auburn University, Anna played club soccer for four years and served as the Club Soccer President in her senior year, showcasing her leadership and organizational skills. Her transition into coaching began at Auburn High School, where she was the JV Girls Assistant Coach for the 2020 season, gaining valuable coaching experience at a competitive 7A school.
For the past three seasons, Anna has been an integral part of the Oxford High School soccer coaching staff, serving as the assistant coach for both the varsity and JV girls and boys teams. Her comprehensive understanding of the game, coupled with her ability to mentor and develop young athletes, has greatly contributed to the success and growth of our soccer program.
Anna's coaching philosophy focuses on fostering a positive, disciplined, and motivating environment where players can thrive both on and off the field. Her extensive playing and coaching background, combined with her passion for the sport, make her an invaluable asset to the Oxford High School girls' soccer team.

Assistant Girls’ Soccer Coach: Macon Humphries
Macon Humphries has been an essential part of the Oxford High School girls' soccer program for the past 8 seasons, bringing a lifetime of experience and a genuine passion for the sport. Starting his soccer journey at the age of three, Macon quickly developed his skills and dedication, eventually playing for Jacksonville Football Club (JFC) from ages 12 to 17 and guest playing in New Jersey from 13 to 16. His high school years were marked by notable achievements, including serving as the team captain and being selected as an All-Star in his junior and senior years. He played in six state championships, making a significant impact in five of them, and earned the MAIS Defensive Player of the Year award. Though committed to soccer also saw him accumulate eight state championships in various other sports.
Macon's leadership extended into his college years at Ole Miss, where he played for the club soccer team for all four years, serving as Treasurer in his junior year and President in his senior year, effectively taking on the role of head coach.
Macon's coaching career began at the young age of 13, and he has since dedicated himself to developing young athletes. He spent eight summers coaching swimming and assisting Jon Marcus Duncan with summer soccer camps for four of them. His coaching repertoire includes two years with the Flood U18 boys and one year with middle school boys. Now, in his ninth year coaching the Oxford High School girls' soccer team, Macon continues to inspire and elevate the game.
Macon's coaching philosophy centers on creating a positive, encouraging, and competitive environment. He believes in the importance of hard work, resilience, communication, and teamwork, striving to help each athlete reach their full potential both on and off the field. His extensive playing and coaching experience, combined with his leadership roles, make him an invaluable asset to Oxford High School girls' soccer program.

Assistant Boys’ Soccer Coach: Charlie Winnick
Charlie Winnick, a dedicated and experienced assistant coach at Oxford High School the last 4 years, brings an international perspective and a wealth of soccer knowledge to our boys' soccer program. Charlie's soccer journey began at a young age in Northwest England and North Wales, where he trained and played in recreational leagues from age 3 to 11, mastering the game in 7, 9, and 11-a-side formats. From age 11 to 16, he competed at the travel equivalent level, playing both 5 and 11-a-side in regional leagues, honing his skills against top competition.
Charlie's senior playing career saw him compete in Saturday and Sunday adult leagues in the Northwest Divisions from ages 15 to 20, and again at 22. During this time, he secured three league titles and five cups, showcasing his consistent high-level performance. Additionally, he played 5 and 7-a-side during weeknights in regional divisions, where he won four league titles. His playing experience extended to the Normandy League in France during his early twenties before he relocated to the United States.
Charlie’s transition into coaching began early. At age 17, he started co-coaching adult teams with his brother, achieving three league titles, four cups, and back-to-back promotions. Their teams were known for their strong defense, conceding just seven goals in a 20-game season twice, while also leading in goals scored every season. In France, Charlie further expanded his coaching repertoire by assisting with U8 and U12 boys and girls teams.
Since 2020, Charlie has been an integral part of the Oxford High School soccer coaching staff, contributing his extensive knowledge and experience to develop young athletes. His coaching philosophy focuses on building strong, disciplined teams that excel both defensively and offensively.
Beyond his playing and coaching career, Charlie worked in sports commentary for Real Time Sportcast between ages 22 and 24. He provided soccer-specific commentary for Quevilly Rouen Metropole and FC Rouen, and his expertise in player and team statistics significantly benefited these clubs. His role also included assisting with event management for the 2014 Nike-Manchester United World Invitational, working with U-15 champions from 32 nations.
Charlie Winnick's diverse background and comprehensive understanding of soccer make him an invaluable asset to the Oxford High School boys' soccer program, where he continues to inspire and guide the next generation of soccer players.
