Important Information about CEUs
- Only CEUs awarded through an accredited CEU granting agency are recognized by the MDE.
- Any Continuing Education Office at a college or university is an accredited CEU granting agency. When deciding to take CEU outside our district, make sure they are through a university, college or community/junior college that is a CEU granting agency.
- CEU credits should assist in improving education practices that lead to enhanced student learning and should provide opportunities for networking with other colleagues and professionals.
- Mississippi e-LEARNING for educators is another option for obtaining CEU credits. It is offered through the Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
- The Mississippi Department of Education will not allow you to repeat a CEU class and use it again to renew your license.
Replacing CEUs
-
Replacing a CEU Certificate
CEU Certificates are now being replaced by the North Mississippi Education Consortium.
Go to the North Mississippi Education Consortium website.
NMEC requires participants to pay a fee online. They will send you an email that your CEU certificate is ready to be copied from their site and how to get it. It no longer comes in the mail.
For acceptable CEUs, go to the MDE website.
Go to the bottom and click on "Resource List of Classes and CEU's for Educator Licensure Renewal 8-2018".
Visit the Mississippi E-Learning site here. They also offer CEUs. More information on Mississippi E-Learning can be found on the MS Public Broadcasting Center website.
Some other places to find CEUs are:
- North Ms Education Consortium (NMEC)
- MS State University Extension Service
- University of MS Online Courses
- MS College Online Instruction Center or MS College Continuing Education
- Northwest MS Community College (NWMCC)
- Delta State University Online CEUs
- Itawamba Community College Online Instruction Center
- MS University for Women Professional Development
Remember: Never go directly to www.ed2go.com.
They cannot give you a CEU.
You must go through one of the colleges.Shop the different universities and colleges above for their fees. Sometimes you can save on the same course.
Remember, you must keep up with your original CEU certificates to send to MDE when you renew your license. You may upload past CEU certificates into Vector Solutions to house the document for easy storage and access.
On the “My Activities” tab, click on the green “New” button and choose “Past PD Credits Submission Form”. Fill out the form and upload your certificate at the bottom by clicking on “add attachment”.
