FactCheck.org is a nonprofit and nonpartisan voter advocacy project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The primary objective of the project is to check the accuracy of claims made by politicians. The project also monitors the spread of sensational news stories and verifies their accuracy. The FactCheck.org website provides fact-check reports on major political speeches and reports as well as a quick-reference resource for verifying the legitimacy of viral news stories. The organization maintains records of prominent politicians, political operatives, and controversial social issues such as gun control and abortion.
