• Creating the Portrait

    Oxford School District has made the initial investment, created and activated the plan for developing the Profile of a Graduate. Creating the Portrait is the phase where it will begin to take shape. With focused conversation about the knowledge, skills, mindsets, and literacies essential for 21st century student success, the Community Team will craft the meaning behind the Portrait.

    OSD engaged the community to develop and implement a Portrait of a Graduate—a collective vision articulating the community's aspirations for its students. Our students will become employees in our community and beyond, so it is important to know the expectations of local employers and leaders.

    Forty-five community and school leaders met together to discuss the changing needs of the workforce and what is required for students to thrive in the collaborative nature of the 21st century. From these discussions, they began to narrow down a list of competencies into general categories.
