    Instructional Interventionists

Our interventionists lead the school Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) teams in order to provide early, systematic, and appropriately intensive assistance to children who are at risk for or already underperforming as compared to appropriate grade- or age-level standards. The interventionists lead the school and team to help prevent academic failure through universal screening, early intervention, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive research-based instruction or interventions for children who continue to have difficulty. They assure that proper guidelines set forth by the Response to Intervention plan is in compliance through oversight of fidelity reviews in the classroom. Approaches for aiding students are adjusted and modified as needed.

    Behavior Coaches

The Response to Intervention (RtI) can also be implemented to support positive behavioral functioning through behavioral interventions and support systems. Research and evidence based framework is used for assisting school personnel (e.g. principals, teachers) in implementing and organizing behavioral interventions that enhance students' social behavior. The same RtI procedures are followed in the behavioral realm as in the academic: universal screening, progress monitoring, data-based decision making, and implementation of evidence-based interventions. Within each principle, students are taught effective strategies that are essential for supporting teaching and learning. Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) or Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) may be developed when the teams determine that there is a need.

    Retention Coordinator

The retention coordinator for the Oxford School District is an integral part of the team of specialists who assist struggling students. One of the primary duties of the retention coordinator is to utilize components of the Early Warning System indicators to identify potential dropouts, predominantly on a secondary level. Collaboration is the key to success, since the retention coordinator works hand in hand with our school and district administrators, school specialists, and parents. The retention coordinator meets daily with students and helps them to address the barriers that keep them from being engaged in the academic realm.
