Visual Art I & II

This course is an introductory course in which all incoming art students must take in order to advance into other disciplines (excluding photography). In this course students will become proficient in understanding, implementing the Elements of Art & Principles of Design, Composition, and the Creative Process.

Drawing I & II

This course is a portfolio and disciplined based course in which students explore mark-making through several different mediums, styles, compositions and formats. Student subject matter will include facial anatomy, perspective, still-life and nature.

Photography

This course is a portfolio and disciplined based course in which students explore composition/design through narratives that are implicit/explicit in content and are relative to human condition within society. Students will also learn to compose using the Elements of Art and Principles of design within topics such as food, fashion, color, architecture, etc. Students will use technology (Adobe Photoshop) to manipulate photographs as well.

AP Studio (2D Design, Drawing, 3D Design)

The AP Studio Art portfolios are designed for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art. AP Studio Art is not based on a written exam; instead, students submit portfolios for evaluation at the end of the school year. The AP Studio Art Program consists of three portfolios — 2-D Design, 3-D Design and Drawing — corresponding to common college foundation courses.
