Theatre Course Descriptions

  • Basics of Theatre: for 7th or 8th Graders (formerly known as Intro to Theatre)

    Basics is an introduction to theatre concepts, history, and techniques, and is intended to broaden student understanding and appreciation of theatrical elements. Student participation is required as they develop personal resources in order to participate and perform monologues, improvisational scenes, and a class project. Students are expected to have a positive attitude, be cooperative, and work independently as well as with a group.

    Intro to Theatre 1: 8th Graders Only (formerly known as Theatre 1)

    Intro to Theatre is now offered as a Carnegie unit course that is available for either one semester or a full year course.

    *Semester course = 0.5 Carnegie Unit

    Students will develop skills in playwriting and play analysis; research and analysis of play producing; and musical theatre history. Students must be trustworthy, positive, and dedicated in order to excel in Theater Arts 1.

    *Year course = 1 Carnegie Unit

    In addition to serving as the production team for the school play and musical productions, students will develop skills in playwriting and play analysis and performance; research and analysis of play producing; and musical theatre history. Students must be trustworthy, positive, and dedicated in order to excel in Theater Arts 1.
