Theatre Course Descriptions

  • Basics of Theatre: for 7th or 8th Graders

    Basics is an introduction to theatre concepts, history, and techniques, and is intended to broaden student understanding and appreciation of theatrical elements. Student participation is required as they develop personal resources in order to participate in group projects and improvisational scenes. Students are expected to have a positive attitude, be cooperative, and work independently as well as with a group.

    Introduction to Theatre: for 7th or 8th Graders

    *Semester course = 0.5 Carnegie Unit

    *Year course = 1 Carnegie Unit

    Students will learn skills that will enable them to perform many of the backstage jobs that are needed to produce a show. In addition, students will learn how playwrights create plays and how plays get produced. Students will read and interpret plays and view recorded performances as well as learn the unique history of the American Musical Theatre.
