Federal Programs
The legislative purpose of federal funds is to improve teaching and learning to meet student needs effectively. Ongoing broad-based planning and shared decision-making are essential for quality programming. The Consolidated Federal Programs Application supports Mississippi Local Education Agencies in looking at increasing student learning and achievement through effective programming, professional development, parent and community involvement, and provision of a safe, orderly climate conducive to our teachers teaching and students learning.

Listing of Fed Programs

Title I: Basic
This program provides financial assistance through State educational agencies (SEAs) to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high numbers or percentages of disadvantaged children to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards.

Title II: Highly Qualified Teachers
This program provides financial assistance to recruit, hire and retain highly qualified teachers and principals; to provide research-based, high-quality professional development activities; and to provide a reduction in classroom size as applicable to improving teaching and learning.

Title III: English Language Learners Program
This research-based language instruction program at elementary and secondary levels accommodates the growing numbers of limited- and non-English speaking students enrolling in the Oxford School District.

Title IX: McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act
This federal law ensures immediate enrollment and educational stability for homeless children and youth. McKinney-Vento provides federal funding to states for the purpose of supporting district programs that serve homeless students.
