And Healthy Kids Need Physical Activity

Our students need your help! In August 2007, the Della Davidson Elementary School opened its doors to 475 4th and 5th graders from our community. Seven years later, Della now houses 680 3rd and 4th graders and our student population continues to grow. Our kids need a better playground. They need a playground they can be excited about spending their play time. The current equipment is not sufficient for the growing number of students in our school. Our goal is to raise $30,000 by December 19, 2014 for the DDES Playground Project.

We need to expand and enhance our playground so our students can obtain the physical activity that is so important to their health and well-being. A study done by Georgia Health Sciences University showed the effects of physical activity on learning not only increased test scores, but also improved a student’s ability to concentrate and work for longer periods of time without interruption. Additional benefits included significantly improved student attendance, and an impressive 67% drop in disciplinary problems.
