Can I pay for my child to attend pre-K?
Posted by:No. The Oxford School District only offers federally funded pre-K program. We do not provide a tuition-based program.

Can I register my child for pre-K on site at Oxford Early Learning Center?
Posted by:Pre-K registration can only be submitted through our online platform. However, documents are required to be dropped off in person at the OSD Registration Office located on the Oxford Early Childhood Center campus at 1637 Highway 30 East, Oxford.

Can my child attend pre-K at the age of five if I choose to start him in Kindergarten at six?
Posted by:“What if I choose to wait and start my child in kindergarten at the age of six? Would he/she be able to attend pre-K class at the age of five?”
No. Only four-year-old children may participate in the Pre-K Program.

Can my child sign up for pre-K if I currently live outside the District but plan to move there soon?
Posted by:“Currently, I live outside of the Oxford School District, but I am moving to that area soon. Can my child sign up for prekindergarten?”
You must live in the Oxford School District at the time of requesting enrollment in the pre-K program to qualify.

How are students selected for pre-K?
Posted by:Students who demonstrate an academic or financial need for a preschool program are placed in the program first. Remaining slots are filled on a first come, first served basis. Oxford School District employees’ children are given waitlist priority.

How many students are accepted into the pre-K program?
Posted by:Our pre-K program is limited to serving up to 209 pre-K students.

How old does my child have to be for pre-K?
Posted by:A child must be four years old by September 1, 2024.

Is my child guaranteed a spot in the pre-K program if we register online early?
Posted by:It is important for parents to register their child online as soon as pre-registration opens on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 8 a.m. Your timestamp will be taken into consideration when filling spots. Students who demonstrate a need for a preschool program are placed in the program first. Remaining slots are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Is pre-K available for students with disabilities?
Posted by:Yes. Students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and are eligible for special education services can attend our pre-K program.

Is the pre-K program accessible for my child who has limited mobility?
Posted by:Yes. The Oxford School District offers transportation for all school students, even those with limited mobility.

Is there a specific curriculum used in pre-K?
Posted by:Pre-K follows the Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines for Four-Year-Olds. -
My child does not turn four until after September 1. Where can my child attend school this year?
Posted by:Students must be four years old by September 1, 2024, in order to be eligible for our pre-K program this upcoming fall. Other pre-K programs are available in the Oxford and Lafayette County area.

My child was placed on the wait list. Is it possible that she/he might still get in?
Posted by:Yes, the Pre-K Program maintains a waiting list throughout the school year and fills slots as they become available.

My first child was in the O.S.D. Pre-K Program. Will my other children be able to attend?
Posted by:Each year students must qualify for the pre-K program. Having a sibling participate in the program previously is not a qualifying component.

What are the hours of the pre-K program?
Posted by:Our pre-K program is an all-day program, from 7:40 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. We provide school transportation for our pre-K students.

What immunizations are required for pre-K students?
Posted by:Required vaccinations for children entering school for the first time include:
- Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP)
- Polio (IPV)
- Hepatitis B
- Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (chickenpox)

Posted by:If you were unable to enroll your child during Pre-Registration Week (February 5-9, 2024), you may call the OSD School Registration Office at (662) 513-8111 for more information. Remember that students are served on a first come, first served basis.
