An Elementary Parent’s Guide to Return to Learn

Morning Entry Points
Bramlett Elementary
- car riders will enter through the front doors of the school
- bus riders will enter through the side doors by the cafeteria
- walkers will enter through the walker gate
Central Elementary
- car riders will enter through the cafeteria doors at the back of the building
- bus riders will enter through the front doors of the school
Della Davidson Elementary
- students will enter through the front doors of the school or through the cafeteria doors outside the bus loop

Afternoon Exit Points

Central Elementary
- car riders will exit through the cafeteria doors at the back of the building

General Safety Protocols
Parents shall not send their child to school if they have a fever or other symptoms of illness.
Parents are responsible to provide their child a face covering.
Parents will not be permitted to eat lunch with their child at school.
Face coverings are required for students to ride district transportation.
Face coverings will be worn by all students, employees, and visitors.
Restricted visitors: Visitors will not be able to enter the school building except as deemed necessary by school principal.

Daily Screening of Students
Your student is required to wear a face covering at all times.
Your student will be temperature screened twice daily, at the start of the day and after lunch.
Temperature screenings will take place in the classroom.
If your child’s temperature registers 100.0 degrees or higher, your child will be sent to the school nurse.
The nurse will check your child’s temperature again. If your child’s temperature registers 100.0 degrees or higher for the second time, the school nurse will call the parent/guardian to come pick up the child.
Morning screenings shall include age appropriate questions to screen for illness as well.

Visitors to the Building
To ensure safety of our students, faculty, and staff, no visitors are allowed except from the following: community support groups, PTO board members and entities that have an existing memorandum of understanding.
These visitors will be temperature screened by office personnel. All visitors are required to wear masks.
If any of the visitors listed above scans a temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher, they will be asked to leave the building.

Restroom Break Schedule
All schools will schedule restroom breaks in the morning and afternoon for students.
Students will also be permitted to use the restroom as needed.

Cleaning, Disinfecting, & Sanitizing
Administrators will monitor custodian workers throughout the day. Special emphasis will be on the following:
- Doorknobs, Handrails, Bathrooms
- Water fountains will only be used to fill water bottles using automatic sensor.
Teachers will be provided extra cleaning materials/supplies to sanitize student desks and their classroom throughout the day.
Custodians will be made aware of the school building quarantine area for intense cleaning in the afternoons.

Breakfast & Lunch Procedures
Your student will be served breakfast in their homeroom classroom each day if they choose to eat. Breakfast is free for all students.
Your student will be served lunch in their homeroom classroom each day if they choose a meal from the cafeteria.
You may send a lunch with your child if you choose to.
All meals will be eaten inside the classroom.

Check-in & Check-out Procedures
Student Check Out
- Parent/Guardian will contact the school office upon arrival to let us know who you are and who you are checking out of school. Parent/Guardian will be instructed to wait in the car.
- School personnel will ensure that the adult is on the student’s authorized check-out list.
- School personnel will walk the student to the car of the authorized person. The school personnel will check the adult’s ID.
- Authorized person signs out the student.
Student Check In
- Grades Pre-K through 2nd grade:
- Parent will contact school upon arrival. Parent & student remain in car.
- School personnel comes to car & takes student temperature
- Parent signs student in (at car) school employee escorts student into the school
- Grades 3-12 protocol:
- Student enters building with doctor/parent note
- Office staff will Screen the student for temperature
- Student signs in and returns to class

Charger Time & Support Classes
If your child leaves the classroom for any reason, he/she must wear his/her facial covering.
Students in support classes will be required to wear masks unless they are able to properly social distance.

Physical Education (P.E.)
Your child’s class will be walked to the gym when it’s his/her PE day.
BES and CES: Two classes will never be in the gym at the same time.
DDES: In the event that two classes have PE on the same day, at the same time, your child’s class will be placed on one side of the gym and the second class will be on the opposite side of the gym. Each class will have their own teacher on their side of the gym.

Art
Art will take place in the art classroom.
Supplies will not be shared between classes. Each class will have a different set of supplies.

Music
Your child will have his/her music special in the homeroom, music classroom, or in the cafeteria depending on the lesson for the day.
Instruments and other materials used in music class will be sanitized between classes.

Library
The librarian will travel to each classroom for the library special time each week.
All students (in-person and virtual) will be allowed to check out books from the library.
We will set up a system in which your child can reserve books digitally. As a result, the librarian will deliver books to your child classroom accordingly.
Online learners will also be allowed to reserve books and pick them up at a designated time/day.

Recess
Different playground locations have been designated for classrooms to rotate to for recess. Your child will receive outside recess, weather permitting.
No two classes will play together during recess.
Playground equipment will be off limits.
Each classroom teacher has been provided with individual recess equipment.

Quarantine Procedures & Locations
If your child registers a fever of 100.0 or higher, he or she will be sent to the school nurse.
The school nurse will take your child’s temperature again. If your child’s temperature reads 100.0 or higher a second time, the school nurse will contact the parent, guardian or emergency contact of the child for someone to come pick up your child.
You may give the school permission to transport your child to the Charger Wellness Clinic. You will pick up your child from the Charger Wellness Clinic.
