OIS Parent-Only Event Focused on Learning Styles, Study Skills & Homework Habits
Description
An upcoming Oxford Intermediate School parent-only event will help parents tune in to their own personal learning styles while also focusing on their child’s individual study skills and homework habits.
On Tuesday, October 28 at 5:30 p.m., parents and guardians of fifth and sixth graders will learn how to help their child as a learner during a special OIS parents-only session. The event will take place at Oxford Intermediate School located at 501 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Oxford.
“During the parent night, our school parents will be given a survey to take so they can evaluate how they learn. They will also take a survey home and have their child complete the survey, so that the parent(s) can then know how to best help their student,” said Oxford Intermediate School Principal Steve Hurdle. “In our parent session, our school parents will have the personal opportunity to study skills necessary to tackle vocabulary words and understand nonfiction texts that their children are currently studying as part of their academic experience.”
School officials also plan to share helpful educational websites for parents who attend the event, which is open to all Oxford Intermediate School parents.
